Hi, I'm Brooke. I live in a 166-year-old house in Philadelphia with cracked plaster, a to-do list I've made peace with, and people around the table anyway.
Somewhere along the way, everything good got a prerequisite. The house should be done before anyone sees it.
The trip should be somewhere new to count.
You should know what you want out of your life by now.
I got to 40 and realized I'd never actually asked myself that last one. So I left a career I was good at. Now I'm figuring out the answer out loud.
What you'll get, every other week:
The table. Something worth cooking, and how to have people over without turning it into a performance.
The house. Not renovation. Slowly adding character to an old house while we live in it, the kind that makes an ordinary Tuesday better.
The family. Small weeknight adventures, new places, and why we take the same trips every year, on purpose.
The questions. The ones I'm asking myself about what I actually want and what I'm here for. You might want to ask them too.
No matching napkins. No finished version. Just one letter, every other week, from the middle of it. Pull up a chair.
Talk soon,
